aww~~illeander!! I actually don't know myself! ahaha, I don't really have a way of doing so, maybe they are colours that i'm fond of and luckily enough, they match! *A*!! hehe, sometimes clashing colours is good too! <3

i used to have a hard time picking colours as well~ but then i figured I should let lose a bit. Such as, before, I would always, aaallllwaaayyysss, use blue! When I realised, I tried using other colours that can substitute from blue! *A*!! also~ If there's a colour I don't use often (i.e. orange) I'll challenge myself to use it! It gives a whole new way to look at your drawings when you use different colours~ makes you feel like you've learnt a lot!

hehe, I'm not sure if this helps too, but in real life, if you find a colour you really love, try stick it into one of your drawings! An example would be, how I fell in love with the lime green DS colour and now I can't help but add it to every piece >A<!! hehe
Don't worry about it~ you'll grow used to it over time, just need to skip out of the comfort zone for a bit and adventure around~! <3<3

Another watercolour piece since ochiba wanted to see more! ^_^ I tried following her critiques, of putting shading into the white, but was a little afraid of doing a background... maybe i'll try on the next one! @w@;;
I really liked the pencil drawing of this and wished the red coat was more red, but my watercolour set didn't have red!! O_O;; i'm not sure if normal sets have red...

I could've sworn I commented on this >_<;; urgh... my comment must've gotten lost in my tabs (firefox tab fiend) I think you should definitely go for the BG next time! challenge, yo! Your watercolor works really are quite lovely. Wonderful petticoat and pants!

 

i...really like her socks * A *! it's such a lovely shade of green and they look really warm LOL. MAN I WANT SOCKS LIKE THOSE *PINES* D:D:D:! the bear in the bg looks really good, you shaded it really well. likewise with the bear she's holding and omgosh the frills under her dress look nice too. i think it's the element of white space that makes them stand out to me.

Ahh.. but I like this orangish-red so much too! It's really vibrant and I think gives it a lot more pizazz than pure red would! Gah.. I love it when people do that fade-out light shiny thing (on the white cloth) - always makes things look so pro!
